Half Double Crochet in the 3rd loop AKA Camel Stitch
With a little trick you can transform regular half double crochet stitches into knit like stitches, that are also very stretchy! You will work the Half Double Crochet Stitches hdc stitches as usual, the only difference is that you will insert the hook into a “hidden” 3rd loop!

Double Crochet in the 3rd loop
Double Crochet into the 3rd loop is a variation on the Double Crochet stitch.
Instead of inserting your hook underneath the entire stitch, enter the hook in the center of the stitch, and exit the hook underneath the back loop. This gives you a nice ridged texture on the fabric with little effort!

Working in the Round into the 3rd loop
A crocheted piece worked in the round will be a little different from the one worked in rows.
When working in rounds, flip your work vertically. Your crochet piece will look like a beautiful knit stockinette stitch.
