How can you make this hat bigger, for a first grader.
Hi Kathy, Sorry for the delay. The directions call for a lightweight (#3 sport) yarn. Try a worsted weight (#4 yarn). The hook recommended is a size 4.5mm. Worsted weight calls for size 5.5mm (size I), and you can increase the hook size to size K. Measure the first grader’s head size. Make your chain long enought to fit, and increase the rows as needed.
